Why is it not possible to connect a printer?

At Watersley we follow a printer-free policy. This means users are not allowed to connect or install printers within our environment.

Reasons:

  1. Security:

    • Printers pose a significant security risk. They often store documents temporarily in memory, which can lead to data leaks.

    • Connected printers can also serve as an entry point for cyberattacks.

  2. Manageability:

    • Supporting different printer models and brands leads to many technical issues and additional management overhead.

    • By excluding printers, we keep the network environment simpler and more reliable.

  3. Digitalization & Sustainability:

    • We encourage the use of digital solutions such as shared folders, OneDrive, or SharePoint.

    • This reduces dependency on paper and contributes to a more sustainable workplace.

Conclusion:

For a secure, efficient, and modern working environment, printers cannot be connected. Instead, we provide alternatives such as digital documents and cloud storage.
